The Thursday Luncheon Group (TLG) cordially invites our members, friends, and partners to join us in a festive celebration of our 50th anniversary on Thursday, February 2, 2023. TLG is the Department of State’s oldest employee organization and a leading advocate of African American foreign affairs practitioners.

Celebrate with us! Our anniversary luncheon will include the announcement of the 2023 TLG Pioneer awardees and highlight the contributions of our treasured members, friends, and partners.

We are proud to serve the foreign affairs community as outlined in our 2022-2024 action plan to explore new partnerships and programming, as well as modernize our outreach platforms and highlight our predecessors’ contributions.

Attire: Professional or Business Casual

Time: 11:00AM-1:00PM. Doors open at 10:30AM, and the program will begin promptly at 11:00AM.

The 45th Anniversary of the Thursday Luncheon Group

On June 24, 2019, the Thursday Luncheon Group (TLG), the Department of State's oldest affinity group held its 45th Anniversary Gala. TLG was founded to increase the participation of African Americans and other minorities in the formulation, the articulation, and the implementation of United States foreign policy. TLG honored Ambassador Harry Thomas, Jr., Ms. Fannie Allen, Dr. Tom Rowe, and Dr. Richard Hope with the Pioneer Award for their contributions to foreign affairs.
